Stephen R. Brown, Jr., born and raised on Montana’s Hi-Line, is a seasoned attorney with deep ties to agriculture and the local community. Holding a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science, Steve has dedicated his legal career to serving the needs of the Hi-Line community. Over the years, he has been instrumental in forming and supporting various nonprofit organizations and has served as a board member and leader in community initiatives. Steve’s legal practice focuses on transactional services in areas such as business, agriculture, and estate planning. He is a former President of the Board of Directors of the Federal Defenders of Montana, Inc., and maintains active memberships in the State Bar of Montana and the American Bar Association. Beyond law, he enjoys golf, bowling, and hunting and values time with his family.

Katie Kuhr

Katie Kuhr Lemay

Katie Kuhr, a Havre native, draws upon her strong agricultural roots and diverse professional background to provide exceptional legal counsel. After graduating with honors from Montana State University-Billings in 2007, Katie initially pursued a career as a licensed addiction counselor and also served the Montana Department of Corrections. Her passion for justice led her to the University of Montana, where she obtained her J.D. in 2019, actively participating in the law school’s trial team. Following law school, Katie clerked for Judge Yvonne Laird of the 17th Judicial District Court of Montana. Engaged in her community, Katie is a graduate of REAL MT, Class V, and serves on the Boards of the Hill County Community Foundation and the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce. When not practicing law, Katie can be found spending time with her family outdoors. Her areas of practice encompass agricultural law, corporate law, estate planning, probate, and real estate transactions, reflecting her well-rounded expertise.

Wylie Novak

Attorney

Wylie Novak, a Cut Bank High School graduate, brings a deep connection to agriculture and a strong academic background to his legal practice. After graduating from Montana State University-Northern in 2021 with Academic All-Conference honors and receiving the Champions of Character award, he continued his journey at the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he was an active member of the Federalist Society and played on the Malpractice Bowl football team. Wylie’s roots in dairy farming and his lifelong involvement in agriculture complement his broad legal expertise in transactional law, real estate law, and litigation. A dedicated family man, Wylie is married to Kaitlin Novak and is the father of a young son, Monty, and also has twins on the way. Outside work, he enjoys the outdoors and applies his diverse skills as a jack of all trades.
